Victorian College of Pharmacy - Alumni

Classnotes - 1980's

After traditional beginnings at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Fiona Landgren (Pharmacy 1981) chose an unusual career path, pursing interests in preventative healthcare and health communications.  She currently runs a consulting business "Communicating for Health" which specialises in health promotion as well as writing and communications for health professionals and consumers.  Away from work, she enjoys the diversity and bustle of Richmond.  Fiona also enjoys getting people together and hopes to see a big crowd at the 25 year reunion in June.

Peter Ryan (Pharmacy 1981) moved from Victoria to South Australia for a few years, then to Broken Hill for a long stint before embarking on a “sea change” to The Gold Coast (after a working holiday in Oxford) to seek a bit of balance and sunshine.  Peter lives in Main Beach with his wife Annette and is a keen traveller.  He has an avid interest in photography and is putting together the photo extravaganza for the class of 1981 25 year reunion in June.

Since leaving the College, Annette Kerr (Pharmacy 1988) has worked in the pharmaceutical industry. Her first position was as a trainee pharmacist at Beecham Research Laboratories, followed by five years with Pharmaction, a company providing contract manufacturing and consulting services in regulatory affairs. Annette then moved to Amgen, where she headed up the Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Group for nine years, followed by three years establishing a Pharmaceutical Economics group. Annette is now Associate Director - Regulatory Affairs and Market Access at Biota Holdings, where she is responsible for the development of compounds for the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus, with US based partner, MedImmune. Along the way, Annette has studied Intellectual Property Law and Pharmaceutical Economics, travelled the world, and become mum to two boys. Annette is passionate about the industry (its not like the bad boys in the movies!) and visits the college every so often to talk to students about career options.
