Rural Entry Scheme

The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences encourages students from rural and remote areas of Australia to apply for the Pharmacy Rural Entry Scheme between 5 May and 5 December 2008.

Entry to the Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce is based on a combination of results in prerequisite studies, UMAT and ENTER. Eligible rural students who apply through the scheme will be favourably re-ranked during the selection process.

The Pharmacy Rural Entry Scheme is available to students applying for the Bachelor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce. Students are not required to return to a rural area after graduation.

Applications for the 2009 entry selection period are open, download the application form.

In addition to submitting your Rural Entry Scheme application, you MUST apply for the Bachelor of Pharmacy or Bachelor Pharmacy/Commerce through VTAC.  In order for your Rural Entry Scheme application to be considered, the Bachelor of Pharmacy and/or Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce must appear in your VTAC preferences.

Monash University Pharmacy Scholarship

Students who are completing their VCE in a rural or isolated area of Australia may also be eligible to apply for the Monash University Pharmacy scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded based on a combination of UMAT and ENTER. Normally, one scholarship is awarded each year. The scholarship is $6000 per year for the duration of the degree. What is rural?

'Rural’, for the purposes of the Pharmacy Rural Entry Scheme is determined by an applicant residing and completing their VCE studies (years 11 and 12) in an area of Australia that is specified on the Commonwealth Government rural and isolated postcode list: www.adm.monash.edu.au/scholarships/assets/docs/Govt-postcode-list.pdf
Applicants in boundary areas will be assessed on an individual basis and will be notified in writing if considered ineligible.  Monash University reserves the right to determine if an applicant is from a rural or isolated area.
