Wound Care

Postgraduate studies in wound care are designed to meet the diverse needs of all health professionals with a responsibility and interest in wound care. The Graduate Certificate provides health professionals with the theoretical foundation for contemporary practices in wound care. The Graduate Diploma explores areas of specialty practice within wound care and develops the clinician’s competency in specialist wound care skills. The Masters program prepares the health professional for advanced practice in wound care.

The courses have been developed in collaboration with the Wound Foundation of Australia, The National Ageing Research Institute, The University of Melbourne and La Trobe University.

Who should do these courses?

The course will be of particular benefit to doctors, nurses, pharmacists, podiatrists, dieticians, occupational therapists and physiotherapists.

Robyn Raynor Master of Wound Care student and Recipient of Commonwealth Aged Care Nursing Scholarship.

"I work as a community health nurse and provide specialised wound services to people in Bunbury and surrounding rural districts in Western Australia. A large part of my work involves the assessment and management of acute and chronic wounds at our local Wound Clinic. As the community ages so has the incidence of chronic disorders such as arterial and venous disease, diabetes and arthritis and consequently so has the associated wound problems and the demand for high quality, specialised wound care. Monash University is the only Australian university that currently offers a comprehensive wound care education program to a Masters level. This off-campus learning program has provided me with sound basis for achieving excellence in wound care and will enable me to act as specialist resource nurse for clients, carers and other health professionals in the Bunbury area."
