Prato is well situated just a few kilometres out of Florence and as such is well connected by air, rail and road services.

Connections:

By Air

There are a few airports to choose from when coming to Prato. The nearest are Florence (8km away) and Pisa (about 60km with a direct train link). Rome airport is another option, and it has several connecting flights a day with Florence, or it is about 3 hours away by train.

Florence airport has direct links to a number of European airports (including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, London Gatwick, Munich, Paris C. de Gaulle, Timisoara and Vienna as well as Catania, Forlì, Milan Malpensa, Palermo and Rome Fiumicino in Italy) with Meridiana and connections all over Europe via airline hubs with Alitalia, LufthansaSN BrusselsKLM and Air France. A cab to Prato will take less than 15 minutes or the airport bus connects with SMN station in Florence from which there are frequent rail services to Prato.

Pisa airport is well served by a number of airlines some of which offer very cheap flights, particularly Ryan Air from the UK and Ireland. Many full service carriers from around Europe fly into Pisa as well as some intercontinental services (especially from the USA/Canada). Alitalia connect with Rome.

Rome airport  connects  to cities all over the world with most major airlines. Alitalia connects to Florence airport or the journey to Prato may be completed by train.

By Rail

Prato station is just outside the city walls, about a 10-15 minute walk from the Monash Centre. The trains from Prato station connect with other parts of Italy and also Europe. European Timetable Information .

To Florence: There are regular trains from Prato that take the 13-minute trip to Santa Maria Novella Station in Florence, with onward connections to Rome and other European destinations.

To Pisa: Pisa is a 1-hour trip, and several of the services also stop at Pisa Airport. Trains connect from Pisa to the north and south Italian coast, and the south of France.

To Rome: Rome is about 3 hours away by train. Some services travel the Prato-Rome journey directly, without the need to change trains.
