Matthew Loft Third year Bachelor of Pharmacy

Matt Loft

Pharmacy is a truly rewarding and satisfying profession. I chose this career path because of its diverse, flexible career options and the satisfaction that can be achieved when taking care of patients’ drug therapy needs and helping them to understand their medicines. The credibility of a Pharmacist cannot be overlooked, as it rates as one of the most trusted professions, always giving patients a friendly ear in which to confide.

Monash offers numerous chances to get involved in your university, your course and of cause your career. As the current President of the Victorian Pharmacy Students’ Association, it is a huge privilege to be able to be in contact with professional organisations, represent the views of students and have an awesome time doing it.

One of the biggest things I have loved is the opportunity to attend Pharmacy Congresses, both at a National and International level. These have been a massive eye-opener for me, allowing the sharing of different pharmacy cultures while combining education and fun. What can compare with sharing a week with pharmacy students from over 40 different countries?

I’m also lucky enough to be doing a practical placement overseas at the end of 2007, something I can’t wait for. There is so much love in Pharmacy. It is a close-knit, constantly-changing profession giving you countless personal and professional rewards.
