Why be a Student Ambassador?
Tra-My Nguyen & Frances Ng
The student ambassador program gave us an opportunity to develop not only communication and leadership skills, but also a chance to network with representatives from the pharmacy profession. It gave us an edge we wouldn't alone have accomplished without the establishment and participation in such a program.
The workshops equipped us with valuable and unique experiences as well as an appreciation for emotional intelligence and diversity. It readied our attitudes to represent VCP at events such as Open Day, information evenings, school visits and O week.
In return, our allocated mentors gave us insight and clarification into the many different opportunities and roles available in the workforce. From this we felt more driven to our upcoming career; with more professional knowledge and support to make better informed choices in the future.
We would wholeheartedly recommend this program for any student wanting to participate and get involved in their university, in their profession and in their future!
P.S. team sailing was very fun!

In 2007 I was lucky enough to be accepted into the Ambassador program at VCP. This is a fantastic group of passionate and motivated pharmacy and pharmaceutical chemistry students from all year levels among whom I have made some great friends.
This program offers excellent opportunities for networking; as a result I became friends with the Dean of Teaching, met an inspirational athlete (Tammy van Wisse) and gained an invaluable employment opportunity at the Alfred hospital!
Being an ambassador is such a rewarding experience; we were frequently able to give back to the uni. We were involved in Open Day, high school information sessions, VCP’s 125th anniversary celebrations and many other events at which we met prospective students, current industry representatives, as well as current staff of the faculty.
Workshops in emotional intelligence, team building and public speaking were definite highlights for me and I would highly recommend becoming involved in the ambassador program.
