Course transfer and creditTransferring outStudents currently enrolled in a Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences degree who are considering transferring to a different course (Monash University or external) should contact the other faculty/institution for information about the course and how to transfer. You may wish to contact Student Services to discuss your possible transfer and discontinuation from the course.Transferring inApplications for transfer into to the Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Pharmacy/Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science are open at the end of each year for commencement in Semester 1 the following year. A minimum standard normally needs to be achieved during the current course to be considered for transfer (eg credit or distinction average).Domestic students applying to transfer to either the Bachelor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce must also complete the UMAT (Undergraduate Medical and Health Science Admission Test ). The UMAT score will form part of the selection criteria. Note: international students are not required to complete the UMAT. Competition is strong and the faculty usually receives about 500 non-year 12 applications for approximately 15-20 places each year. As a guide, at least a 70% average across all subjects is required for consideration. The faculty prefers transfer applicants to have completed chemistry and mathematics subjects in their first year of university, and may also pay special attention to excellent marks in these subjects. Transfer procedureMonash University students can apply via the internal transfer process by submitting an application form to the faculty Student Services Centre by the due date. Applications for 2009 entry will open from 1 September 2008. Applications will be assessed in late December and first round offers will be made mid-January. All applicants will receive an email by mid-February regarding the final outcome of their application. Applicants studying at other institutions should apply via VTAC. Applying for credit (advanced standing)To apply for credit for previous learning (also known as advanced standing) students must submit an application form after they have accepted their offer. Credit will not be assessed until a course offer has been made. For more information see the faculty’s (credit policy) and instructions on applying. |
