Occupational, Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE)

The university strives to provide a safe and healthy environment for its employees, students, and visitors at all of its campuses and premises. There is a general legal responsibility to this effect under common law and there are also specific requirements placed on the university under various acts and regulations of statutory law.

The faculty has an active Occupational Health Safety and Environment Committee. The undergraduate student representative on the faculty's Occupational Health Safety and Environment Committee for 2007 is currently vacant. If you are interested in serving the Parkville student community in this way, please contact your Parkville campus student association to nominate for this position and for the appropriate election to be held.

Please note that each department will have specific OHSE policies and guidelines in relation to areas such as laboratory work or other specialist equipment. It is your responsibility to adhere to these requirements. If you have any doubts about these requirements, please contact one of the faculty's OHSE officers.
